Funding For-Profit Philanthropy | AlwaysOn
a short video of the way Skoll, Kaufmann and google foundations are making for profit investments -- because the VCs have moved away from the early stage sector and the foundations need to make investments to advance their issues programs
we should find out about the issues that these foundations are passionate about.
Iknow Kaufmann centers on entrepreneurship, and skoll on Social Entrepreneurship, but what are google.orgs big issues?

Tom Sawyer And The Fence

Tom Sawyer And The Fence: It may have been a long time since you read Mark Twain's remarkable account of his character Tom Sawyer and painting his fence. So I thought you might like to look it over one more time."

Quotes
Quotes: "We are drowning in information, while starving for wisdom. The world henceforth will be run by synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices wisely.

Dave McClure on Facebook Connect

Dave calls Facebook Connect the Second Age of Aquarius - "More importantly social networks don't just have lots of user profile data, they also have functional Friend Lists (with pictures); their users are now socialized and familiar with invitation behavior, and this enables easy viral distribution of content & applications. thus, it's not Single Sign-on, it's Social Sign-on."

the ant trail - my digital discovery journal

In this blog I will capture my journeys through the Internet as I research topics, connect with people, organize(?) my thinking -- novel thought!! It will serve as a record of my preparation process for blog posts, presentations, videocasts, conversations, event attendance, and projects.
It will follow the admonition of David Weindberger in his book Everything is Miscellaneous to "filter on the way out".Thoughts Illustrated: "filtering on the way out"- David Weinberger
It will feature the use of several tools -
- Grazr as a social bookmarking aggregator of feeds/links
- Concept Mapping
- Social Network Visual directory(s)
- Tags and Tag Clouds
- Blog roll of bloggers I respect or enjoy
- A Mosaic of images that provide an overall picture of my use of the Internet to aid my thought process and to augment my search for "the patterns which connect"
The principal blogs relating to the use of the Ant Trail will be Thoughts Illustrated and Return on Attention which are chronological archives of my Digital Life Stream.
